Twisted Love follows Ava Chen and Alex Volkov, two people carrying heavy pasts that shape the way they love, trust, and protect themselves. When Alex steps into Ava’s life more closely, their connection turns into something intense, complicated, and emotional. Their story is full of secrets, trauma, healing, and a love that is anything but simple.
This was my second time reading this book, and I still really loved Ava and Alex. I’m always drawn to books that bring in harder topics, and I liked how Ana Huang included different types of trauma without making the romance feel shallow. Ava’s fear of water and the way Alex helped her become more comfortable around it was one of my favorite parts. It showed a softer side of him that made their relationship feel more meaningful.
I also loved the moments I had forgotten from my first read, especially when Alex sang to Ava after telling her no so many times. That scene was so sweet because it showed how much she mattered to him, even when he struggled to say things the right way.
The main thing that frustrated me was how long Alex stayed stuck in his own head. I wanted him to tell Ava how he felt sooner instead of pushing everything down. At the same time, I understood why he acted that way. He did not feel good enough for her, and after everything that happened, he thought leaving her alone was the better choice.
I still really enjoyed Twisted Love the second time around. Ava and Alex have an intense relationship with emotional moments, trauma, healing, and plenty of tension. Alex definitely frustrated me, but I still loved watching him open up and let Ava in. If you like protective, emotionally damaged men and romances with heavier themes, this one is worth reading.
