Trigger Warnings

alcohol use, toxic family dynamics, illness of a parent, caregiving stress, emotional stress.

Summary

The Mistake follows John Logan and Grace Ivers as their relationship starts with chemistry, grows complicated, and turns into a second chance neither of them can fully let go of. After Logan messes things up, he has to prove to Grace that he is serious about her and willing to do the work to earn back her trust.

What I Loved

I loved Logan and Grace so much. They were sweet and cute together, but their story still had enough hardship to make it feel real. I really liked that this romance did not feel like everything was perfect all the time. They had struggles, doubts, and real conversations about their futures and dreams.

One of my favorite things was how encouraging they were with each other. Neither of them let the other give up, and that made their relationship feel stronger. I also absolutely loved everything Logan had to do to win Grace back. Watching him put in the effort made the second-chance part of the story so satisfying.

What I Didn't Love

There was not much I truly disliked. Logan definitely made mistakes, obviously, but I liked that he had to own up to them instead of being forgiven immediately.

Final Thoughts

This was such a sweet and fun romance with enough emotional weight to make it feel real. Logan and Grace were adorable together, and I loved seeing him work to earn her back. If you like hockey romance, second chances, and couples who support each other’s dreams, this is a really good one.
