Payton is used to keeping to herself and getting through life on her own, until Nero unexpectedly enters her world. Dangerous, obsessive, and completely unapologetic about what he wants, Nero quickly becomes fixated on her. As Payton gets pulled deeper into his dangerous lifestyle, their unusual connection begins turning into something neither of them expected.
I really liked Nero and Payton together. They understood each other's trauma, which I think helped their relationship grow and made their connection feel more genuine. Nero was also surprisingly sweet with Payton.
I especially loved Nero's inner thoughts about how creepy his own behavior was. Those moments were hilarious and added some fun to his character.
The story felt a little generic compared to other mafia romances I've read. I still really enjoyed it, but I didn't feel a strong emotional connection to the story while I was reading.
Nero was a really enjoyable mafia romance with a couple I liked and some genuinely funny moments. I had a good time reading it, but it didn't really stand out or make me feel much emotionally, which ultimately made it a three star read for me.
